Use Quick Complete to record partial or full production batches, create assembly orders, and consume raw materials on in-progress work orders.
Collection: Work Orders: Getting Started
Priority: P0
Who this is for
Production staff recording manufacturing output in batches at a co-manufacturer or internal production line.
Before you begin
- Work order is In Progress with no material shortages (Status workflow, Bulk Receive)
- Raw materials received and committed
Steps
1. Open the production run
Go to Inventory → Work Orders → Production Runs and open your run.
2. Select in-progress work orders
On the Main Work Orders tab, check the boxes for work orders in In Progress status that you want to include in this batch.
3. Click Quick Complete
Open the Bulk Actions menu and select Quick Complete (or use the row action Quick Complete for a single work order).
4. Configure the Quick Complete dialog
The Quick Complete {N} Work Order(s) dialog shows each selected SKU:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Remaining | Qty not yet produced on this work order |
| Produceable | Max qty you can make with available components right now |
| Qty to Complete | How much to produce in this batch |
| Auto Complete AO | Whether to auto-finish assembly orders (default: unchecked) |
Use Produceable or Max shortcuts to fill all quantities at once.
5. Set batch quantities
For partial batches, enter a quantity less than Remaining (e.g., 13,000 of 15,000). Repeat Quick Complete for additional batches until the work order is fully produced.
6. Auto Complete AO — leave unchecked for lot tracking
Leave Auto Complete AO unchecked when finished goods require lot numbers. You will complete assembly orders manually with lot details (Complete assembly orders).
See: Should I check Auto Complete AO?
7. Start processing
Click Start Processing. A background job creates assembly orders for each work order.
8. Monitor job progress
Go to Inventory → Work Orders → Job Status to watch Bulk Quick Complete progress.
When finished, assembly orders appear in the work order sidebar under Assembly Orders (typically as drafts).
See Track bulk Quick Complete jobs.
What happens next
For each work order in the batch, Quick Complete:
- Completes the main assembly step for the specified quantity
- Creates assembly order(s) for the finished goods
- Consumes component inventory and produces finished goods at the production location
Sub-assemblies are handled automatically (uses on-hand stock or creates sub-assembly AOs as needed).
Next: Complete assembly orders to add lots, record yield, and finalize costs.
Co-manufacturer workflow callout
Co-man teams often run multiple partial batches per work order. Enter the batch size in Qty to Complete, finish assembly orders for that batch, then repeat Quick Complete for the next batch until Remaining reaches zero.
