Configure third-party logistics warehouses in Luminous so posted transfer orders can push inbound shipment details (ASN) to your 3PL WMS.
Collection: Work Orders: Admin Setup
Priority: P2
Who this is for
Account administrators integrating co-manufacturer outbound shipping with a 3PL warehouse management system.
Before you begin
- 3PL vendor relationship and WMS integration credentials configured with Luminous
- Co-manufacturer locations configured
Steps
1. Mark warehouse as 3PL
In Locations / Warehouses, configure the destination warehouse record with 3PL/WMS integration settings per your integration type (e.g., Shapiro, ShipMonk, or custom WMS).
Requirements vary by integration — contact Luminous support for your specific 3PL.
2. Verify WMS connection
Confirm test inbound shipments can be created from Luminous to the 3PL sandbox environment before production use.
3. Test Push to WMS flow
- Complete a test work order through production
- Create and post a transfer order to the 3PL warehouse in Shipment Planning
- Click Push to WMS on the Posted TO
- Confirm the inbound shipment appears at the 3PL
See Post transfer orders and push to 3PL WMS.
What Push to WMS does
- Sends transfer order line details to the 3PL as an inbound shipment (ASN)
- Enables the 3PL to receive against expected quantities
- Does not deplete origin inventory — ship the linked sales order for that
FBA vs 3PL
| Destination | Action |
|---|---|
| 3PL warehouse | Push to WMS after posting TO |
| FBA / AWD | Link Inbound Shipments — no WMS push (FBA reconciliation) |
