Who this is for
Account administrators configuring the logistics backbone for co-manufactured production.
Before you begin
- Module prerequisites
- Vendor records exist for co-manufacturers
Key entities
| Entity | Used for |
|---|---|
| Co-Manufacturer (Vendor) | Who performs manufacturing; drives service fee cost rules |
| Production Location | Warehouse where manufacturing occurs and components are consumed |
| Destination Warehouse | Where finished goods are stored until shipped |
Steps
1. Configure co-manufacturer vendors
In Manage → Suppliers, ensure co-manufacturer records exist with:
- Correct vendor type / classification for manufacturing
- Linked warehouse location(s) if applicable
- Payment and contact details for PO generation
2. Configure warehouse locations
In Manage → Locations, create or verify:
- Production location — Typically the co-manufacturer's facility warehouse in Luminous
- Destination warehouse — Where finished goods sit until transfer (often the same site for co-man-held inventory)
- 3PL / FBA destinations — For Shipment Planning transfers (3PL setup)
3. Standard co-man pattern
When finished goods stay at the co-manufacturer until you ship:
- Set Production Location = co-man site
- Set Destination Warehouse = co-man site (same location)
This keeps inventory at the manufacturer through production and until a transfer order ships goods out.
4. Verify on production run create
Create a test production run and confirm:
- Co-manufacturer appears in the dropdown
- Production Location and Destination Warehouse lists show expected sites
What happens next
Ops teams select these locations when creating production runs (Create a production run) and shipping via Shipment Planning (Ship finished goods).
