Which linked invoices receive the sync

When you save a change to a sales order that already has linked invoices, Luminous shows a confirmation dialog asking whether you want to sync those changes through to the invoices.

If you confirm:

  • Full-order invoices (created manually for the whole order, or via a consolidation) — updated. Luminous adds any new line items, updates quantities and prices on existing ones, removes lines that no longer exist on the order, and recalculates the invoice totals.
  • Per-shipment invoices (generated automatically when a specific shipment was recorded) — skipped. These invoices are scoped to a single shipment's items and quantities; syncing full-order edits onto them would inflate their amounts.
  • Per-fulfillment-order invoices (generated automatically when a specific fulfillment order completed) — skipped for the same reason.

You can tell which type an invoice is by looking at the Shipment or Fulfillment Order reference shown on the invoice detail page. If one is present, that invoice is shipment-scoped and will not be touched by the sales order sync.

What the sync updates on full-order invoices

Change on the sales orderEffect on the linked full-order invoice

Shipping amount, tax, order-level discounts, and payment records on the invoice are not altered by the sync — only the product line items and derived totals change.

Declining the sync

If you click No (or close the dialog) when asked about syncing, the sales order saves normally but the linked invoices remain unchanged. You can always edit an invoice directly if you need to update it after declining.
