Stock Snapshot exports go to the Downloads page
The Stock Snapshot export runs as a background job rather than streaming the file directly to your browser. This means you will not see a file download start immediately after clicking Export to Excel.
What happens when you click Export
-
Luminous queues the export in the background and immediately shows a confirmation notification at the bottom of the screen:
"Background export started. You'll be notified when it's ready."
-
The notification includes a Go to Downloads button — click it to jump straight to the Downloads page, or navigate there manually via the main menu.
-
Once the export finishes (typically within a minute for most accounts), the file appears on the Downloads page and is available to download for 7 days.
How to get to the Downloads page
- Click Go to Downloads in the notification banner, or
- Navigate to Downloads from the main navigation menu (
/downloads).
Why does it work this way?
Stock Snapshot exports across large date ranges or high-SKU catalogs can take longer to build than a standard browser request allows. Running the export in the background prevents timeout errors and lets you keep working in Luminous while the file is being prepared.
The export respects your current grid state
The workbook will contain only the columns that were visible on screen when you clicked Export, in the order you had them arranged. See How do I control which columns appear in the Stock Snapshot Excel export? for details on managing column visibility.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| No notification appeared after clicking Export | Refresh the page and try again; check that pop-ups / notifications are not blocked in your browser |
| The file does not appear on the Downloads page after several minutes | Reload the Downloads page — it does not auto-refresh. If it still isn't there after 5 minutes, try the export again |
| Export button is greyed out | A start date must be selected before the export can run |
