Planned and Actual consumption basis control how BOM component quantities scale when finished good yield differs from plan.
Collection: Work Orders: FAQ & Troubleshooting
Priority: P1
Short answer
Each BOM line on an assembly order has a Basis:
| Basis | Depletion behavior |
|---|---|
| Planned | Fixed BOM qty — does not change when actual yield differs |
| Actual | Scales with actual finished good output vs planned |
Example
Planned output: 10,000 units. Actual yield: 9,900 units.
| Component | Basis | Qty depleted |
|---|---|---|
| Bulk raw material | Actual | Scaled to 9,900 |
| Labels | Planned | Full 10,000 label qty |
Where to configure
- Default: BOM line on finished good (Configure consumption basis)
- Override: Assembly order form Basis column at completion time
