Overview
Luminous now displays all shipments linked to a purchase order directly within the PO detail view. This allows purchasing operations users to check shipment status, reference numbers, and navigate to individual shipment records — all without leaving the PO.
How It Works (Step-by-Step)
1. Navigate to Purchase Orders
Go to Inventory > Purchase Orders in Luminous.
2. Open a Purchase Order
Click on any PO to open its detail view.
3. Open the Shipments tab
In the tab strip of the PO detail view, select the Shipments tab. This section displays all shipments currently associated with the PO in a grid layout.

4. Review shipment details
Each row in the grid displays key shipment information, including reference number, status, and other relevant shipment data.
5. Navigate to a shipment
Click the link on any shipment row to open that shipment's full detail page. Use your browser's back button or breadcrumb navigation to return to the PO without losing context.
6. Empty state
If no shipments have been linked to the PO yet, the section will display an empty state message indicating no shipments are currently associated.

Key Features / Options
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Shipments grid | Displays all shipments linked to the PO in a structured grid |
| Shipment row links | Each shipment links directly to its detail page for deeper review |
| Empty state | A clear message is shown when no shipments are linked to the PO |
| Always visible | The Shipments section appears regardless of how shipments were created or which internal configurations are active |
Tips and Best Practices
- Check shipments before receiving. Before creating a receiving report, use the Shipments section in the PO detail to confirm the correct shipment reference and status are in place. This helps avoid receiving against the wrong shipment.
- Multiple shipments on one PO. If a PO has been split across multiple shipments (e.g., partial shipments arriving at different times or locations), all of those shipments will appear in the grid — not just the most recent one.
- Use shipment links for landed cost review. Clicking into a shipment from the PO view allows you to quickly verify any additional costs (shipping fees, tariffs) that were added before receiving.
- Cross-reference with receiving reports. The Shipments section shows shipments linked to the PO, but actual inventory impact doesn't occur until a receiving report is completed. Both views together give you a full picture of where a PO stands.
FAQs and Troubleshooting
Q: I don't see any shipments listed, but I know shipments exist for this PO.
A: Confirm that the shipments were linked to this specific PO when they were created. Shipments created independently or linked to a different PO will not appear here. Navigate to Inventory > Purchase Orders > Shipments tab to view all shipments across POs and verify the association.
Q: Can I create a new shipment from the PO detail view?
A: The Shipments section in the PO detail view is for visibility and navigation. To create or split a new shipment, go to Inventory > Purchase Orders > Shipments tab > Create Shipment and link the relevant PO during setup.
Q: Does this section show shipments that have already been received?
A: Yes. The section displays all linked shipments regardless of their current status, including those that have already been received.
Q: Will this affect how I receive inventory?
A: No. The receiving process remains unchanged. Inventory is still recognized and cost layers are still created when you complete a receiving report — not when a shipment is created or viewed.
Q: What information is shown in each shipment row?
A: Each row displays shipment-level details such as the reference number and status. Clicking the row link opens the full shipment detail for complete information.
