PO priority rules when Luminous auto-fills Allocate from Incoming — earliest arrival date first, then creation date.
Collection: Work Orders: FAQ & Troubleshooting
Priority: P0
Short answer
When you open Allocate from Incoming, Luminous sorts open POs by priority and auto-fills quantities to cover as much of the shortage as possible, starting with the highest-priority PO.
Priority rules
POs are sorted in this order:
- Earliest expected arrival date (EAD) first — POs arriving soonest get allocated first
- If a PO has no EAD, it sorts after POs with dates
- Among POs without EAD, most recently created PO first
You can manually adjust quantities per PO before confirming.
Auto-fill behavior
The dialog pre-fills allocation quantities starting from the highest-priority PO until:
- The shortage is fully covered, or
- All available incoming quantity is allocated
Summary cards show Current Shortage, Total Allocating, and Remaining Shortage.
What counts as "available incoming"
Only quantity on open POs where ordered qty > received qty and the PO is not completed. Quantity already committed to other work orders is excluded from Inc. Available.
After confirming
- Inc. Allocated increases on the material row
- Shortage decreases
- Used POs are linked to the work order under Purchase Orders
