Overview
By default, whoever creates a cycle count chooses whether it is a blind count. In a blind count, counters don't see system quantities or variances while they count. An admin can now make blind counting mandatory for every new count.
Turn it on
- Go to Settings > Inventory.
- In the cycle count section, switch on Require blind count for all cycle counts.
- Save your settings.
The setting is off by default.
What changes
- On Inventory > Cycle Counts > New Cycle Count, the Blind count toggle is on and locked. A note says it is Required by your admin (Settings > Inventory).
- Counts created through the External API or PickFlow are also saved as blind. If a request asks for a non-blind count, it is overridden instead of rejected, so existing integrations keep working.
- Counts that already exist are not changed. Only new counts are forced blind.
Good to know
- To go back to per-count choice, switch the setting off. New counts can then be blind or not, as chosen at creation.
- The setting hides quantities in the counting screens. It does not restrict API access: the API can still return system quantity on blind counts. If counters have API access, keep that in mind.
