Choose Finish Step or Receipt completion trigger on work orders — co-man batch production vs subcontract receive flows.
Collection: Work Orders: FAQ & Troubleshooting
Priority: P1
Short answer
| Trigger | Use for |
|---|---|
| Finish Step | Standard co-man / in-house batch production with Quick Complete and assembly orders |
| Receipt | Subcontract flows where finished goods are received at destination rather than completed via assembly steps |
Finish Step (recommended for co-man)
- Use Quick Complete to record production batches
- Creates and completes assembly orders
- Components consumed at production location
- Finished goods produced into inventory at production/destination warehouse
This is the default for co-manufacturer workflows described in the Work Orders Getting Started guides.
Receipt
- Finished goods tracked via receive finished goods endpoint/flow
- Move states: produced → in_transit → received
- Used when completion is tied to physical receipt at destination, not step-based assembly at co-man
