Reporting late or over-production on a work order step
Yes — you can continue to report production on any step as long as the work order is In Progress, regardless of whether the step has already reached its planned quantity. You do not need to delete or modify earlier assembly orders.
How to log the overage
- Open the work order (status must be In Progress).
- Navigate to the step and click Report Production (or use Quick Complete / Bulk Quick Complete).
- Enter the additional quantity produced and save as normal.
A new, separate assembly order is created for the late report. Earlier completed assembly orders are left untouched, and any transfer orders built against them continue to work correctly.
What about the over-production indicator?
If the new total will exceed the step's planned quantity, the system logs an over-production notice but still accepts the report. You may see a note in the response indicating the step is over plan.
What does NOT work
- Reporting on a completed or cancelled work order is still blocked. Mark the work order back to In Progress first if you need to accept further production.
- You cannot report a negative quantity as a plain production entry — downward adjustments must be recorded as a [correction](How do I correct a production entry I already logged?) against an existing entry.
