Overview
When you create or edit an Assembly Order, Luminous checks whether the Actual Quantity you are requesting from each component's assigned location would bring that location's stock to zero or below. If it would, the component line is highlighted and a warning is shown.
There are two warning levels:
| Warning | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Zero stock (yellow highlight) | The consumption would exactly deplete the location's available stock. |
| Negative stock (red highlight) | The consumption exceeds what is available — stock would go negative. |
What triggers a warning?
Luminous compares the Actual Qty entered on a component line against the on-hand stock at the assigned location. Warnings update in real time as you change quantities or switch locations.
What happens when I try to save?
If any warnings are present when you click Save, a confirmation modal appears listing every affected component — its current stock, the quantity being consumed, and the resulting balance. You have two options:
- Proceed Anyway — save the order as-is. Stock will go to zero or negative for the flagged components.
- Cancel — go back to the form and adjust quantities or locations before saving.
Luminous does not block the save outright; the modal is a checkpoint, not a hard stop.
Common causes and fixes
Planned quantity exceeds available stock at the selected location
- Check whether stock is spread across other locations and consider splitting the line manually (use the Split button on the row).
- If Auto Split is enabled, try clicking Recompose from Current Inventory so Luminous can distribute the quantity across locations with available stock.
Stock was recently transferred or consumed by another order
- The warning reflects the current on-hand at the time you are editing. Receive or transfer stock first, then recompose.
You intentionally want to over-consume (e.g., a correction)
- Click Proceed in the confirmation modal. The order will save and stock will go negative at that location.
