Overview

The Ship Complete toggle in the Allocation Planner tells Luminous to hold every line on the order — even lines that have stock ready today — and ship the entire order together in one go, only once all lines can be fulfilled. Partial shipments are not allowed when this option is on.

Where to find it

Open any posted sales order and click Allocate order (in the Actions menu or the Supply / Allocations column header) to enter the Allocation Planner. The Ship Complete checkbox appears in the top-right corner of the page header, next to the Re-run auto-fill button. You can toggle it on or off at any point before clicking Confirm plan.

What happens when you turn it on

In-stock units are held, not shipped immediately

If some lines have inventory available right now but other lines are still waiting on a purchase order or preorder, Luminous will hold the in-stock units rather than shipping them ahead. Nothing leaves the warehouse until every line on the order is coverable.

The What will happen panel on the right updates to reflect this: lines sourced from stock show as "In stock now — held until complete" instead of "Ship today", and a note reads "Ships complete — nothing leaves until every line is available, then it all ships together."

All lines release together automatically

As soon as all lines can be covered (for example, when an incoming purchase order is received and stock lands in the warehouse), Luminous automatically releases the entire order as one fulfillment order. You do not need to manually re-trigger anything.

If every line is already in stock

If every line is sourced from stock at the time you click Confirm plan, Ship Complete still applies — Luminous releases all lines together immediately as a single fulfillment order.

What happens when you turn it off (the default)

With Ship Complete off (the default state), Luminous uses per-line partial fulfillment: lines that are ready to ship go out as soon as their stock is available, without waiting for every other line to be covered. This is suitable for most standard orders.

When to use Ship Complete

Turn Ship Complete on when:

  • The customer expects one complete delivery and partial shipments are not acceptable (for example, a gift box or a set that must arrive together).
  • Your carrier or shipping contract charges per shipment and splitting would add unnecessary cost.
  • The order contains items that only make sense together (e.g., a multi-piece kit that you do not want to assemble across multiple shipments).

Leave Ship Complete off (or do not enable it) when:

  • Getting available items to the customer quickly is a priority.
  • Lines have very different expected arrival dates and waiting would cause unacceptable delays.
  • Your standard practice is to ship what is ready and back-order the rest.

Important notes

  • The setting is saved on the order. When you click Confirm plan, the Ship Complete choice is recorded on the sales order and remains in effect. Future receipt events and the automated order-release process will respect it.
  • Ship Complete is opt-in. If the toggle was never set (for example, on older orders), the system treats the order as allowing partial shipments — it will not hold lines unless you explicitly enable Ship Complete.
  • The setting may be pre-populated from your account's Smart Fulfillment configuration. If your account is set to disallow partial orders by default, the toggle will already be on when you open the planner.
