Why a station or printer appears disabled in the packing slip print dialog

When you click Print on a packing slip (for a full-page PDF template), Luminous opens a station picker dialog. Two things can appear disabled there:

Station is greyed out — "no document printer"

What you see: The station shows in the dropdown but is disabled with the note — no document printer.

Why it happens: That print agent is online and recognised, but it has only reported a thermal label printer to Luminous (e.g. a Zebra ZPL device). Full-page packing slips are PDF documents and cannot be sent to a label printer, so the station is shown — confirming Luminous can see it — but cannot be selected for this job.

How to fix it:

  1. Go to Settings → Print Agents and open the station in question.
  2. Check which printers the agent is reporting under Printers.
  3. If a document printer (laser, inkjet, PDF-capable) is physically connected to that packing bench but not listed, restart the print agent on that computer so it re-scans available printers.
  4. Once the agent reports a document printer, it will become selectable in the dialog automatically.

If every station is greyed out, the dialog will tell you that none of your stations has reported a document printer. Use Export PDF to download the file and print from your browser or OS, or update your print agents as above.

Printer is greyed out — "(label printer)"

What you see: After selecting a station, the printer dropdown shows one or more entries ending in (label printer) that cannot be chosen.

Why it happens: The selected station advertises both a document printer and a thermal label printer. Packing slips (full-page PDFs) can only go to a document-capable printer; the label printer is shown so you can confirm Luminous sees it, but it is excluded from this job to prevent sending letter-size pages to 2″ × 1″ stock.

How to fix it: Select one of the enabled printers in the list (a document/PDF-capable printer). If no enabled printer appears, check the agent's reported printers as described above.

The dialog did not open at all — file downloaded instead

If clicking Print immediately downloads a PDF without opening the dialog, it means Luminous found no non-revoked print station for your account. In this case the download is the correct fallback.

To get the print dialog: pair a print agent under Settings → Print Agents and ensure it is not revoked.
