Overview
The Sales Report has two display modes you can toggle on screen. This article explains how to switch to Line Item View, what changes on screen, and what to expect from the exported file.
Step 1 — Open the Sales Report
- Open
/reports/sales-reporton your Luminous URL (for example, yourcompany.joinluminous.com/reports/sales-report). This page is no longer linked from the left navigation; the Sales Report under Insights → Reports is a different dashboard without the Export to CSV/PDF buttons. - The report loads in Order View by default, where each row represents one order with its line items listed in a nested table.
Step 2 — Apply your filters (optional but recommended)
Before switching views, set the date range or saved filter you want:
- Use the quick-select buttons (All Time, YTD, Today, This Week, This Month) or click the calendar icon to choose a custom date range.
- Optionally click Select Search Filter to apply a saved filter template (by SKU, category, tag, etc.).
Both views respect the same date range and saved-filter settings.
Step 3 — Enable Line Item View
Located next to the Select Search Filter and Reset Apply Filters buttons, check the Line Item View checkbox.
The table immediately reloads and switches to a flat list where each row is one line item, showing these columns:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| SKU | The product's internal SKU |
| Product Name | Product name |
| PO Source | Whether the order is a Luminous order or a 3rd-party order |
| Order # | The order number from the source channel |
| Date | Order date |
| Quantity | Units sold on that line |
| Price | Unit price |
| Line Total | Quantity × Price |
To return to the order-by-order view, simply uncheck Line Item View.
Step 4 — Export
Click Export to CSV or Export to PDF in the top-right corner of the page. A message will appear confirming that the file is being generated — the finished file will be emailed to your account's email address.
Important: the export is always in line-item format
Whether or not Line Item View is checked, the exported file always contains one row per line item (not one row per order). The exported columns are:
- PO Source, Order #, Date, SKU, Product Name, Quantity, Price, Line Total, Order Total
This means you do not need to switch to Line Item View before exporting — the exported file will be at the line-item level either way. The Line Item View checkbox controls only what is displayed on screen; it does not change the export format.
Tips
- Filtering before exporting narrows down the records included in the emailed file. Apply your date range and any saved filters first.
- Large exports may take a few minutes to arrive in your inbox.
- To see kit/bundle component detail in the on-screen view, use Order View (Line Item View unchecked) and click a row to expand its Sub Components table.
