Overview
Your account's default Assembly Order template is the one Luminous applies silently when only a single template is configured, and the one that is pre-selected in the template picker when multiple templates exist. Setting it correctly means the right layout is used automatically without extra clicks.
There are two ways to set a default: from the template list, or while creating or editing a template.
Option 1: Set a default from the Export Templates list (quickest)
- Go to Manage → Templates.
- Use the Type filter to show Assembly Order templates only.
- Find the template you want to make the default.
- Click the Actions menu (⋮) on that row.
- Click Set as default.
The change takes effect immediately. The "Set as default" option does not appear on a template that is already the account default.
Note: The current default template is also protected from accidental deletion — its delete option is hidden unless an administrator explicitly enables it.
Option 2: Mark a template as default while creating or editing it
- Go to Manage → Templates.
- Open an existing Assembly Order template (click its name or Edit in the Actions menu), or create a new one.
- Scroll to the bottom of the form.
- Check the Make this template default checkbox.
- If another template is already set as the default, a yellow notice reads "This will override the current default template" — this is expected.
- Click Save.
The selected template becomes the new account default for Assembly Orders.
What the default template does
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| Exactly one Assembly Order template exists and it is the default | PDF exports always use that template — no picker shown |
| Multiple templates exist and one is marked as default | The template picker opens at export time with the default pre-selected; you can confirm or choose a different layout |
| The template picker cannot load your templates | The export proceeds automatically using the account default |
