Use this when you want an Add Extra Cost Line rule to fire only for certain purchase orders. Two examples are non-DDP POs, and POs from a specific country of origin.
This capability is enabled per workspace. If you don't see the new condition options, contact Luminous support.
Before you start
- Incoterm comes from the Incoterm field on the PO. Rules read the PO's value and ignore upper and lower case.
- Country of origin is not a built-in field. Create a custom field on purchase orders, for example "Country of Origin". Then fill it in on each PO.
- HTS code is already available as a line filter. In the rule, use Filters — which lines it applies to > Add filter > HTS code.
Steps
- Go to Inventory > Inventory Admin > Cost Rules and create or edit an Add Extra Cost Line rule.
- Set the document type to Purchase Order or Shipment. The Incoterm condition appears only for these.
- Under conditions, add Incoterm. Choose is (any of) or is not (none of), then pick the Incoterms. For example, choose is not and pick DDP so DDP POs don't get the charge.
- To filter on origin, add a Custom field condition. Choose your PO custom field and enter the values, such as Vietnam or China.
- Optional: under Filters — which lines it applies to, click Add filter and choose HTS code (or Product, Category, Tag and so on). Leave filters empty to apply the charge to every line. Under What it adds, set the Cost Basis and Allocation method.
- Turn on Auto-apply on save if the charge should be added when the PO is saved. Leave it off to have the rule apply in preview only.
- Click Create.
How matching works
- Different conditions combine with AND. Several values within one condition combine with OR.
- If a PO has no Incoterm, an is condition does not match.
- If you change a PO's Incoterm or custom field so the rule no longer matches, the charge that rule added automatically is removed.
- You can build one rule per HTS code and origin combination for a rate matrix.
