When auto-generation runs on a posted sales order but creates no fulfillment order, Luminous records the reason on the order.

Where to look

  1. Open the sales order.
  2. Open its Activity log.
  3. Find the most recent auto-generation entry. Depending on how fulfillment is set up on your account, it reads either:
    • "No fulfillment order was created:" followed by the reason, or
    • "Fulfillment order auto-generation skipped -" followed by the reason (for example, "no eligible items found").

If you ran Auto Generate Fulfillment Orders yourself, a message also appears at the bottom of the screen. Use the Activity log entry as the record of why generation was skipped.

Reasons you may see

  • The order's sales channel is fulfilled externally, so no fulfillment order is created.
  • The order was placed before your cutover date.
  • Your account creates fulfillment orders from the source channel's own fulfillment orders.
  • Every remaining line is already on a fulfillment order, shipped or cancelled.
  • No line needed one. Lines may be shipped, cancelled, ignored, or not linked to a Luminous product.
  • Routing failed. The entry includes the detail.
  • The order must ship complete, and not every line can be fulfilled yet.
  • There isn't enough available stock for the listed SKUs.
  • The order has no shipping address, or auto-generation was otherwise refused. The entry includes the detail.

The same reason is not logged twice on an order. An order held for pending payment keeps its existing payment-hold entry.

Next steps

Fix the cause, then go to Operations > Sales Orders, open the order, and on the Fulfillment Orders tab choose Actions > Auto Generate Fulfillment Orders. For settings-related causes such as priority lists, stock, and partial fulfillment, see the article "Why aren't fulfillment orders auto-generating for my sales orders".
