Searching purchase orders by master SKU
If your products are organized as a master SKU with variant children (for example, a shirt style with multiple sizes and colors), you can type the master SKU in the SKU filter and Luminous will automatically return every PO line belonging to any of its variants. You do not need to search each variant individually.
From the Purchase Orders list
- Go to Inventory → Purchase Orders and open the PO list.
- Click Add Filter and choose Product SKU (placeholder text reads Enter master or variant SKU).
- Type the master SKU exactly as it is stored in Luminous (exact match is required for master expansion — partial prefixes only match individual variant or alternate SKUs, not the master family).
- Press Enter or apply the filter. Luminous returns all POs that contain at least one line for any variant under that master.
From the Purchase Order Line Items grid
- Go to Inventory → Purchase Orders → Line Items (the cross-PO line items view).
- Find the SKU column filter.
- Open the operator dropdown. The SKU column filter offers Contains, Not contains, Equals, Not equal, Blank and Not blank (there is no "in" operator).
- Enter the master SKU as the value.
- Apply the filter. The grid returns every line whose variant belongs to that master.
How the matching works
| What you type | What matches |
|---|---|
| A master SKU (exact) | That master's own lines and every variant child's lines |
A partial prefix (e.g. SHIRT-) | Any variant or alternate SKU that starts with that prefix — master expansion is not triggered |
| A product name (exact) | Lines whose product name matches exactly |
| An alternate/alias SKU prefix | Lines whose alternate SKU starts with that value |
Tip: Master expansion only fires on an exact token match. If your master SKU is
SHIRT-001, typingSHIRTwill prefix-match variants starting withSHIRTbut will not expand the master family. TypeSHIRT-001for the full variant expansion.
