What is a support pack?
A GL support pack is a self-contained export of every journal entry and every supporting source row for a locked period. It includes a manifest identifying the compile run, period dates, rules version, lock timestamp, and locked-by user — so an auditor can confirm the file is reproducible and has not been re-derived after the fact.
How to export
- Open the General Ledger and select the period you want to export.
- Confirm the period is locked (a provisional period cannot produce a support pack, because its figures may still change).
- Choose Export support pack and select CSV or PDF.
CSV vs PDF
| Format | Best for | Row limit |
|---|---|---|
| CSV | Large periods, data import into Excel or another tool | Up to 20,000 rows |
| Sharing a formatted file directly with auditors | Up to 5,000 rows |
If a period exceeds the PDF limit, Luminous will tell you to use CSV instead rather than silently producing a truncated file.
What the export contains
Each row in the pack covers one support-schedule line and includes: entry ID, posting rule, posting basis, effective period, account code and name, debit/credit amounts, source type, reference, counterparty, source date, booked amount, and currency.
The manifest block at the top of the file (or cover section of the PDF) records the compile run ID, period start/end, rules version, compiled-at timestamp, and locked-at timestamp. Exporting the same locked period twice produces byte-identical content — the manifest uses the frozen lock timestamp, not the export time.
Note: Support packs are available only for locked (final) periods. Provisional periods must be locked before an export is possible.
