Editing the Standard Pallet template

The Package Builder uses Package Dimension Templates to fill in a package's length, width and height (and optionally a tare weight) in one click. New accounts start with three pallet templates: Standard Pallet (74 × 40 × 18), Medium Pallet and Large Pallet. Standard Pallet is the default pallet template.

The Package Dimension Templates window lets you add, set default and delete templates. It has no Edit option, so you can't change the size of an existing template. To end up with a different Standard Pallet size, such as 48 × 40 × 6, replace the template:

  1. Open the fulfillment order and choose Build Freight Shipment to open the Package Builder. For an existing shipment, use Package Builder from the shipment’s row menu.
  2. On a pallet row, click the Package templates icon (the grid icon) and choose Manage Templates.
  3. Click Add Template.
  4. Enter a Name (for example, "Standard Pallet"). Set Type to pallet. Enter the Length, Width and Height, for example 48, 40 and 6. Each must be greater than 0. Optionally enter a Tare Weight (lbs), which is the weight of the empty pallet.
  5. Tick Set as default for this type if you want it to be the default pallet template. You can also click Set default on its row afterwards.
  6. Click Add Template.
  7. To remove the old 74 × 40 × 18 template, find it in the list and click the delete (trash) icon.
  8. Click Done.

Tip: You can also set a pallet's dimensions manually on the package. Then open the template icon on that row and choose Save Current as Template. This opens the same window with the values already filled in.

To use a template on a package, click the template icon on that package row and pick the template. The default template is marked with a star. Applying a template sets the package's length, width and height. If the template has a tare weight, it also updates the package's tare weight and total weight.

What is an SSCC?

SSCC stands for Serial Shipping Container Code. It is the unique GS1 barcode number that identifies one shipping unit, such as a pallet or carton. It is the number that appears on shipping-unit labels, and retailers and EDI partners use it to identify each unit. It is based on your company's GS1 code. The Package Builder SSCC field holds 20 digits, which is an 18-digit SSCC with a 2-digit prefix.

To generate an SSCC for a single package, click the refresh icon (tooltip: Generate SSCC) next to that package's SSCC field. You can also type or paste one in.

Why is "Generate Missing SSCCs" greyed out?

Generate Missing SSCCs is in the Quick Actions section of the Package Builder. In the current version of Luminous this button is always disabled. Nothing you do on the shipment will enable it. Generate SSCCs for each package with the refresh icon next to its SSCC field. The Package Builder's validation summary flags packages that are Missing SSCC.
