Editing Ordered Quantity and Unit Cost inline on PO lines
Luminous lets you update the Ordered quantity and Unit Cost on any purchase order line by clicking directly into the cell on the Line Items grid — no separate form needed.
Where to find it
- Go to Purchase Orders and open the Line Items tab.
- Find the line you want to update.
Editing Ordered quantity
- Double-click the Ordered cell on the row you want to change.
- A number input appears. Type the new quantity and press Enter (or click outside the cell) to save.
- The row refreshes automatically: Line Total, Remaining to Receive, Remaining to Ship, and Line Status all update in place.
Validation: The quantity must be greater than zero. A zero or negative value is rejected with an error message and the cell reverts to its previous value.
Inventory impact: Changing the ordered quantity immediately adjusts the incoming-stock count for the SKU. The movement is reflected on the inventory page right away.
Editing Unit Cost
- Double-click the Unit Cost cell on the row you want to change.
- Type the new price and press Enter (or click outside) to save.
- The row refreshes with the updated Line Total.
Validation: Unit Cost must be zero or greater (a free line is valid). Negative values are rejected.
Receiving reports: When you change a unit cost, the new price is automatically applied to any unbilled receiving reports linked to that line, keeping your Received dollar amounts in sync.
Permission required: The Unit Cost cell is only editable if your account has the Update SKU Unit Cost permission. Without it the column is visible but read-only. Contact your Luminous administrator if you need editing access.
Reverting a change
If the save fails (for example, a network error), the cell automatically reverts to its previous value and displays an error notification. No partial save occurs.
Which roles can edit Unit Cost?
By default, the Admin, Super Admin, and Factory Admin base roles include the Update SKU Unit Cost permission. Custom roles can be granted or revoked the same permission in your role settings.
