You create a warehouse from the Warehouses page under Locations. The same dialog also lets you set up the warehouse's group.
Steps
- Go to Manage › Locations. The Warehouses list opens.
- Click + New Warehouse at the top right. The New Warehouse dialog opens.
- Fill in the warehouse details:
- Name (required), for example "Denver DC".
- Address (required): street address, city, state, ZIP and country. The apartment/suite line is optional.
- Contact (optional): phone and email. These are used by carriers for pickup notifications. If you enter an email, it must be valid.
- In the Warehouse group section, choose one of two options:
- Create new group
- Enter a Group name. It is pre-filled from the warehouse name, and you can change it.
- Choose Pick & Pack: Automatic (the default) or Manual.
- Turn on External (3PL) only if a 3PL or OMS integration manages this warehouse's inventory (for example ShipStation, Amazon, Trackstar or EDI). If you turn it on:
- Select an Integration account. You can create one with + New Account.
- Pick the Integration's warehouse to map this warehouse to the matching location in the integration. This field doesn't appear for EDI accounts.
- Optionally turn on Pull stock levels or Pull inbound shipments. Each toggle appears only if the selected integration supports it.
- Add to existing group: pick a group from the Warehouse group list. The group's edit dialog then opens with the new warehouse added, so you can review it and save.
- Create new group
- Click Create warehouse. If a required field is missing, you'll see "Please fill all the required fields."
After it saves, the new warehouse appears in the Warehouses list. If you chose a new group, you'll see a confirmation that the warehouse and group were created.
Good to know
- A new warehouse automatically gets a default shipping location and a default receiving location, both named General. Later you can open the warehouse with the edit option and change them under Setup.
- If the warehouse is created but its group can't be, you'll see a message saying so. Create the group from the Warehouse Groups page instead.
- Deleting a warehouse requires the delete permission for locations.
