When this applies

Amazon sometimes closes an FBA inbound shipment after receiving fewer units of a product than you sent, for example 318 of 321. The remaining units stay open on the transfer order and keep counting as in-transit. This feature lets you find those lines and close them.

The feature must be enabled for your workspace. If you don't see the options below, contact support.

What counts as a short line

  • The inbound shipment is an Amazon FBA shipment that Amazon has marked closed.
  • Shortage is judged per SKU against the quantity Amazon says it received. A surplus on one SKU never offsets a shortage on another.
  • Luminous has already posted every unit Amazon received for that SKU. A line still waiting on a receipt to be posted is a receiving gap, not a short line, and is never closed by this feature.

Find short shipments

Go to Inbound Shipments and open the Short – Amazon closed view.

Close remaining units manually

  1. In Inbound Shipments, select the shipments you want to clean up.
  2. Open the actions menu and choose Close remaining short lines.
  3. Review the lines shown, then confirm.

Lines that are not short at that moment are skipped.

Close them automatically

  1. Go to Inventory → Inbound Shipments and click Auto Reconcile. In the Automatic reconciliation panel, find Amazon short receipts.
  2. Enter Close after (days), from 1 to 365, and click Save.
  3. Each day, Luminous closes the remaining units on short lines once Amazon closed the shipment at least that many days ago. The close reason is recorded on the line.

Leave the field empty to turn auto-close off.

Shipments that Amazon closed before Luminous recorded the close date are treated as closed long ago, so older backlog lines are included.

A line that someone has reopened is never auto-closed again.

Effect on reporting

Once closed, the short units no longer count as in-transit. This applies to the in-transit report, stock snapshots, and Close the Books.
