Attaching Files to a Sales Order

Feature availability: The Attachments tab is enabled per account. If you do not see it, contact your Luminous administrator or support.

Overview

You can store supporting documents — customer POs, order forms, spec sheets, delivery confirmations — directly on a sales order so the full paper trail is always one click away.

Supported file types and size limit

TypeExtensions
PDF.pdf
Images.png, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .webp
Word.doc, .docx
Excel / CSV.xls, .xlsx, .csv
Plain text.txt

Maximum file size: 20 MB per file.

Step 1 — Open the Attachments tab

  1. Navigate to Operations → Sales Order Grid.
  2. Open an existing sales order (create the order and save it first — you cannot attach files to an order that has not been saved yet).
  3. Click Edit (top right) to open the Edit Sales Order form, then click the Attachments tab.

Step 2 — Upload a file

You have two options:

  • Drag and drop a file from your desktop onto the drop zone.
  • Click Upload (top-right of the tab) to open a file picker. You can select multiple files at once.

A spinner shows while the upload is in progress. The file appears in the list as soon as it finishes.

Step 3 — Download a file

Click the file name in the list. Luminous downloads it through a secure, authenticated request — the file is saved to your computer with its original name.

Step 4 — Delete a file

Click the trash icon on the right side of the file row. Confirm the deletion when prompted. Deleted files cannot be recovered.

What you see in the file list

  • File name (click to download)
  • File size
  • Upload date and time
  • Uploaded by — the name of the team member who added the file
  • Thumbnail for image files

Permissions

  • Viewing attachments requires standard sales order read access.
  • Uploading and deleting requires sales order edit (update) access.
