Use this when a specific build needs different parts than the master BOM, for example a refurbishment where some parts are replaced and others are reused.

Availability: the feature is rolled out per account. If you don't see the buttons below, ask support to enable it.

Add a component

  1. Open the Work Order or Assembly Order and click Edit.
  2. Click Add Component.
  3. Choose the product and enter the quantity for this line. If the product isn’t on the BOM, choose a Reason (required). You can also set units consumed per unit and add a note.
  4. Click Use this product, then Save the order.

An added component is used on this order only. The master BOM is not changed. It reserves and consumes inventory and counts toward the order's cost.

Remove a component

  • Work Order: in the BOM table, use Remove in the Actions column. The row is marked Removed. Click Restore to bring it back at its BOM quantity.
  • Assembly Order: click Edit, then Remove on the row. The row is deleted from this order. The last remaining row can’t be removed.

Removed components are not reserved or consumed and don't count toward cost.
