Adding a note to a mobile stock update
When you update a quantity from the Warehouse Mobile App, you can attach a free-text note that explains why the adjustment was made. The note is saved with the log entry and is visible to anyone reviewing the SKU quantity log or location log in Luminous.
Steps
- Open the Warehouse Mobile App (Tools → Warehouse Mobile App).
- Scan or select a bin location, then tap the SKU (and lot, if applicable) you want to adjust.
- Enter the correct quantity in the quantity field.
- In the Add a note (optional) box below the quantity field, type your reason — for example:
2 cases found water-damaged, removed from stockRecount after receiving discrepancy
- Tap Update and confirm the action.
Note field not visible? This feature is being rolled out progressively. If you do not see the notes box, contact Luminous support to have it enabled for your account.
Character limit
Notes are limited to 1,000 characters. The field enforces this limit at the keyboard so you cannot submit an oversized note.
Leaving the note blank
The note is entirely optional. If you leave the field empty, the update is submitted exactly as it was before — nothing extra is recorded.
Where the note appears
After submitting, the note appears in the Remarks column of the inventory quantity log (visible under the SKU record and location log views in the desktop app), listed under the Manual Recount transaction type. It is not a clickable link — a manual recount has no associated document — but the full note text is displayed inline.
Lot-tracked SKUs
For lot-tracked SKUs, the confirmation dialog names the specific lot being updated (e.g., Set SKU-1234 (Lot L-99) quantity to 48?) so you can verify you have selected the correct lot before confirming. See How does the Warehouse Mobile App handle lot-tracked SKUs during a location scan? for full lot-scanning details.
