Set up supplier SKU records with minimum order quantities and purchase units so Generate Purchase Orders calculates correct order quantities.

Who this is for
Account administrators and purchasing managers configuring supplier pricing and ordering constraints for raw materials.
Before you begin
- Supplier vendors exist in Luminous
- Raw material products linked to suppliers
Why this matters
When ops uses Generate Purchase Orders from a work order, Luminous:
- Pulls unit cost from supplier SKU pricing (or cost rules)
- Converts shortage qty from stockkeeping unit to purchase unit (e.g., EA → Carton)
- Enforces MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) — order qty may exceed shortage
See Why is my PO quantity higher than the shortage?
Steps
1. Open supplier SKU settings
Go to Manage → Supplier SKUs and select the supplier from the Supplier dropdown (or product → supplier pricing, depending on your Luminous configuration).
2. Configure per product + vendor
For each raw material you purchase:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Supplier SKU | Vendor's part number |
| Unit cost | Default purchase price |
| Purchase unit / MOQ unit | Unit you buy in (carton, kg, case) |
| MOQ quantity | Minimum order qty in purchase unit |
| Unit conversion | Conversion from purchase unit to stockkeeping unit |
3. Set up unit conversions
If the purchase unit differs from your inventory unit (e.g., buy in 5 kg increments, track in grams), configure a unit conversion rule between the units.
Without a conversion rule, MOQ enforcement may not apply correctly — the Generate PO preview shows a warning.
4. Verify in Generate PO preview
Create a test work order with a shortage for this material and open Generate Purchase Orders. Confirm:
- Unit cost populates from supplier SKU
- Quantity reflects conversion and MOQ
- Tooltips explain any adjustments
Feature flag note
MOQ enforcement and purchase-unit conversion in the Generate PO preview require the red_DV-4020_supplier_sku_moq feature flag. Contact support if MOQ badges and conversion tooltips do not appear.
