Overview
The Historical Import page gives you a real-time view of how Luminous is bulk-importing transaction and order history from all your connected integrations. Use it whenever you want to check how far along your initial data backfill is, or to spot which integrations are still processing, pending, or have failed days.
How it works (step-by-step)
- Open Settings from your name in the top-right corner, then choose Historical Import under Integrations in the Settings list.
- At the top of the page, review the four summary counters: Completed, Processing, Pending, and Failed. The overall progress percentage shows how many days of data have been successfully imported out of the total.
- Click Refresh to pull the latest counts without reloading the page.
- In the Progress by Integration section, each connected integration (e.g., Amazon FBA/AWD, Shopify, TrackStar) displays its own progress bar, status badge, and estimated time remaining. The rate shown (e.g., "2 min/day") reflects how fast that integration's data is currently being processed.
- Scroll down to the Currently Processing table to see which specific dates are actively being imported, which account and platform they belong to, and how long each has been running.
- At the bottom of the page, an Import Settings section controls how many days can be processed concurrently across all accounts (Max concurrent jobs, 1–10).
Key features / options
Status badges — Each integration shows a status such as Not started, In Progress, Complete, or Failed. "Failed" days do not block other integrations from continuing.
Per-integration progress — Progress is tracked independently for each integration. One integration being slow or failed does not pause the others.
Import triggering — As shown in the screenshot, import triggering may be disabled for your tenant. You can view progress at any time, but starting or restarting a historical import requires contacting Luminous support. You cannot trigger it yourself from this page.
Estimated time remaining — The time estimate next to each integration reflects current processing speed and updates dynamically as more data is pulled in.
Tips and best practices
- Don't confuse this with the standard Import tool. The Historical Import page is specifically for the automated bulk backfill of data from your connected integrations (think: "import everything Shopify and Amazon have ever sent us"). The import tools under Tools > Import are for manually uploading files like SKUs, BOMs, or inventory — those are separate workflows.
- The "Historical" label may feel misleading. In the context of the standard imports page, "historical" means viewing past import jobs you've manually run. Here in Settings, "Historical Import" means pulling in historical transaction data from your integration connections automatically. These are two distinct features with overlapping terminology — be aware of this when supporting clients.
- Failed days are not catastrophic. A small number of failed days is normal during a large backfill. Reach out to support if failures are accumulating or if a specific integration is stuck.
- Refresh before escalating. Counts update in real time, so always click Refresh before assuming something is broken.
- This page is read-only for most tenants. Import triggering is controlled by Luminous — clients cannot start or stop their import from this page.
FAQs and troubleshooting
Q: Why does it say "Import triggering is disabled"? A: Most tenants are not able to start or restart a historical import themselves. This is managed by the Luminous team during onboarding or at your request. Contact support if you need an import started or restarted.
Q: What does "Failed" mean? Will my data be incomplete? A: Failed means Luminous was unable to process data for those specific dates. Depending on the volume, this may or may not affect your reporting. Contact support to have failed days reviewed and reprocessed.
Q: Is this the same as the Import History I see elsewhere? A: No. "Import History" (accessible via Tools > Import) shows a log of manual file imports you've run (SKUs, BOMs, etc.). The Settings > Historical Import page tracks the automated bulk pull of order/transaction history from your integrations. Same word, very different feature.
Q: My integration shows "In Progress" but the estimated time keeps increasing — is something wrong? A: Estimated time is based on current processing speed, which can vary. If an integration hasn't moved in several hours, refresh the page and check the Currently Processing table. If it appears stuck, contact support.
Q: Do I need to do anything to set up the Historical Import? A: No action is required from you. Once your integrations are connected (e.g., Amazon, Shopify, TrackStar), Luminous initiates the historical backfill automatically. Your role is to monitor progress here and contact support if something looks off.
