Manufacturing Fee incorrectly rescaled on Assembly Orders

What was happening

When you edit an existing Assembly Order and change the planned quantity, Luminous rescales BOM-defined per-unit extra costs (for example, a packaging cost defined as $0.50 per unit) so the line total reflects the new quantity. This is correct behavior for costs tied to the BOM.

However, the same rescaling was incorrectly applied to flat extra costs that came from a Work Order — most commonly the Manufacturing Fee. A Manufacturing Fee is a single fixed amount (e.g. $29,523), not a per-unit rate. Multiplying it by the new planned quantity each time you edited the order produced astronomical totals.

What changed

Extra costs are now split into two categories:

Cost typeExampleRescaled when qty changes?
BOM-defined per-unit costPackaging at $0.50/unit✅ Yes — scaled to new planned qty
Work-order flat feeManufacturing Fee❌ No — amount is left unchanged

Luminous identifies the two types by checking whether the extra cost has a matching entry in the BOM. If it does, it is rescalable. If it does not (e.g. a Manufacturing Fee added by a Work Order), it is treated as a final fixed amount and left alone.

What you should see now

  • Open an Assembly Order that has both a per-unit BOM cost and a flat Manufacturing Fee.
  • Change the planned quantity.
  • The per-unit cost line total updates proportionally; the Manufacturing Fee line total stays the same.

Also fixed in this release: when a component line is split across multiple lots or bins, the real-time stock warning highlights (red/yellow row shading) now correctly identify the specific split row that would deplete stock, rather than always flagging the first row for that component.

If you see wrong amounts on existing orders

If a previously saved Assembly Order shows an inflated Manufacturing Fee, re-open it in Draft, verify the extra cost amounts in the Extra Costs section, and correct any values before completing the order.
