Why a fulfillment order will not push while the sales order is on hold

This is expected and intentional. When a sales order is in On Hold status, Luminous blocks the fulfillment order from being sent to your warehouse or fulfillment channel. The block applies to every push trigger:

  • The automatic overnight/scheduled push run
  • A manual Push action taken by a user on the fulfillment order
  • Bulk push operations from the Sales Order grid
  • Wave and pick-flow processing
  • Any re-push job triggered by an integration

When a push is attempted on a held order, Luminous logs Skipped push: sales order is on hold. and does not mark the fulfillment order as errored — it stays in a pushable state so it will be sent automatically once the hold is released.

What to do

If you want the order to ship, release the hold

  1. Go to Operations → Sales Order Grid and find the order.
  2. Open the order's action menu (⋮) and choose Set to Pending.
  3. Luminous immediately removes the hold. The fulfillment order will be picked up on the next auto-push cycle, or you can push it manually right away.

If the hold is set to expire on a future date

The hold does not lift automatically when the expiry date passes. After the date passes, the next sync or refresh event (or a manual Refresh Order action) will recalculate the order's status and re-enable pushing. See How does the 'Hold Order' automation action work? for full release mechanics.

If the order status looks correct but the push still fails

Check whether the order status shown in the grid is truly out of On Hold (not a stale browser cache). Reload the page and confirm the status reads Awaiting Shipment or Pending before attempting the push again.

Why the hold cannot be bypassed mid-push

If an order is placed on hold while a push is already in flight (which can take up to a minute under carrier rate limits), Luminous re-reads the persisted order status before recording the push result. If the hold landed during the push, the order remains On Hold and is not promoted to Awaiting Shipment — protecting the hold even in that narrow timing window.
