Kit parent lines are excluded from Missed COGS by design
This is expected behavior after a recent update.
When a kit order ships, Luminous explodes the kit into its individual component product lines. Each component line receives a cost at shipment time. The kit parent line itself carries no cost, because no physical inventory is drawn from a kit SKU — all inventory movement (and therefore all COGS) belongs to the components. Assigning a cost to the kit parent would double-count COGS.
Because a $0 kit parent is correct by design, Luminous now excludes kit parent lines from the Missed COGS tab of the Transaction COGS report, just as Close the Books already excluded them from its zero-cost sale items check.
What to check if you suspect real kit COGS gaps
Check the component lines, not the kit parent:
- Go to Insights → Accounting → Drill Down → Transaction COGS.
- In the left panel, select Missed COGS.
- Filter the SKU column for the component SKUs that make up the kit (not the kit SKU itself).
- If a component line appears, that's a real gap. Fix it from the row's ⋮ menu with Set COGS from Historical Data, or use Actions → Fix Missing Inventory Costs for many lines at once.
The kit parent SKU will never appear in Missed COGS. This is correct.
