What was happening
When you substitute a BOM component with an alternate that has a different coverage ratio — for example, one unit of Blank A can be replaced by two units of Blank B — Luminous needs to remember that ratio so that any later edits stay on the correct axis.
Before this fix, the ratio existed only in your browser session. Saving the order and reopening it discarded the ratio, so the form treated the substituted line as if it were 1-for-1. A second substitution then multiplied quantities twice, producing a number twice (or half) as large as intended.
What is correct now
The coverage ratio is now stored with the order line whenever you apply a substitution. When you reopen the order, the form restores that ratio automatically. Any further substitution or quantity adjustment converts on the line's correct axis rather than starting from scratch.
How to verify
- Open an assembly order that has a substituted component line with a non-1:1 ratio.
- Save the order and reopen it.
- The component's quantity should reflect the original substitution exactly.
- If you substitute again, the new quantity should be computed from the BOM line's planned quantity — not from a number that has already been converted.
Notes
- Lines that have never been substituted are unaffected. The ratio field is intentionally left blank for those lines and will not default to 1.
- This fix applies to assembly orders created or last edited after the release date. Orders saved before the fix that were then re-saved will have their ratio recorded going forward.
- The component substitution feature must be enabled for your account for this field to appear or be used.
