Why Non-Inventory sales can appear missing
Luminous uses an internal marker to tell the fulfillment engine to skip Non-Inventory lines when generating pick lists or pushing orders to a warehouse. A previous version of the SKU-level sales rollup read the same marker as a signal to exclude those lines from revenue totals — even though the sale itself was real.
As a result, orders containing Non-Inventory products (spare parts, services, warranties, digital goods, etc.) showed correct totals on the order itself, but those quantities and amounts were silently dropped from:
- SKU-level sales quantity and revenue summaries used for demand planning and reorder decisions
- Purgatory order-readiness logic — orders whose lines were all Non-Inventory type could be misclassified as "all items ignored," which affected whether they were automatically posted
What has changed
A fix is now available that corrects both of the above. When enabled for your account:
- Non-Inventory lines are recognised as genuine sales in the SKU rollup, so their quantities and revenue appear alongside standard product lines
- An order made up entirely of Non-Inventory lines is no longer treated as "all items ignored" — it follows the same clean-order posting path as any other fully-mapped order
- True non-sale lines (discount coupons, shipping fees, and other service charges that do not have a Non-Inventory product type) remain excluded, exactly as before
- Warehouse fulfillment behaviour is unchanged — Non-Inventory lines are still skipped by the pick-list and WMS push logic, which is controlled by a separate setting
How to get this enabled
This fix is enabled per account by the Luminous team. Contact your Luminous representative or support to request activation. Before enabling, confirm that your account uses the Post Clean Orders purgatory setting (the standard configuration); the fix is designed for that setup.
What you will see after enablement
- Historical Non-Inventory line sales will appear in SKU totals immediately — no backfill is needed because the fix reads the current product type on each line
- Purgatory will correctly handle orders that contain only Non-Inventory lines, routing them through auto-post rather than holding them for manual review
- There is no change to inventory levels, cost layers, or fulfillment order generation
