Overview

Luminous now allows you to set a default Order Currency on a per-channel basis. This ensures that incoming sales orders from international channels — such as FBA Mexico (MXN) or FBA Canada (CAD) — are recorded in the correct currency, rather than defaulting to your account's base currency.

How It Works (Step-by-Step)

  1. From the left-hand navigation, go to Manage → Channels.
  2. Locate the channel you want to configure and click Edit.
  3. Under the Order Source section, toggle on Pull Sales Orders (if not already enabled).
  4. Scroll down within the Order Source section to find the Order Currency dropdown.
  5. Select the appropriate currency for this channel (e.g., MXN – Mexican Peso for FBA MX, CAD – Canadian Dollar for FBA CA).
  6. Hit Save.

Note: The Order Currency field appears within the Order Source settings panel, below the fulfillment push options and above the Filter Incoming Orders section.

Key Features / Options

SettingDescription
Order CurrencySets the default currency applied to all orders pulled into this channel. Useful for international marketplaces where the order currency differs from your account's base currency.
Pull Sales OrdersMust be enabled for the Order Currency field to apply to incoming orders.
Per-channel configurationEach channel can have its own currency setting — configure independently for FBA MX, FBA CA, or any other regional channel.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Set the currency before orders start flowing. Changing the currency after orders have already been pulled may not retroactively update existing orders. Configure this during initial channel setup.
  • Match the currency to the marketplace. For FBA Mexico, use MXN; for FBA Canada, use CAD. Mismatched currencies will cause order totals to reflect the wrong values in your reporting.
  • One currency per channel. If you sell on both FBA US and FBA MX, maintain separate channels for each — do not combine them into a single channel and expect the currency to auto-detect per order.
  • Verify after saving. Pull a test order (via Sales Orders → Actions → Pull Single Order) and confirm the currency is reflected correctly on the order record.

FAQs and Troubleshooting

Q: Will the Order Currency setting affect existing orders already pulled into Luminous?
No. The currency setting applies to orders pulled after the configuration is saved. Previously imported orders retain whichever currency was recorded at the time of import.

Q: I don't see the Order Currency dropdown — where is it?
The field appears in the Order Source panel within the channel editor, below the checkboxes for "Automatically Push Fulfillment Updates" and "Ignore Channel Shipments." It is only visible when Pull Sales Orders is toggled on.

Q: Does this affect how orders sync to QuickBooks or Xero?
If your accounting integration is configured, the currency on the sales order will be passed through to your accounting platform. Ensure your accounting integration supports the currency you select, or consult your accounting setup documentation.

Q: Can I set a different currency for FBA US?
FBA US orders are typically in USD, which is the default. You only need to configure this setting for channels where the marketplace currency differs from your account's default.

Q: What happens if I leave the Order Currency field blank?
Orders will be recorded using your account's default base currency. For international channels, this will likely result in incorrect order totals.
