Luminous Monitors are automated checks that watch your integrations and order flow around the clock, alerting you by email when something falls outside the expected range — before it becomes a bigger problem.
Overview
When you connect an integration in Luminous, it's possible for orders to start flowing earlier than intended, or for critical EDI documents to go missing without anyone noticing. Monitors solve this by running on a defined schedule and emitting alerts the moment a threshold is crossed.
Two monitors are available for setup:
- Order Aging Monitor — detects orders stuck in the wrong state (not shipped, shipped but not invoiced, missing fulfillment orders, or completely stuck)
- EDI Health Monitor — detects missing or failed EDI transmissions (856 ASNs, 810 invoices, and failed transactions)
The Order Aging Monitor is auto-generated for every new integration you add, with a default expectation of zero orders pushing. When you're ready to go live, you simply update the monitor's thresholds to reflect your expected daily order volume.
Why this matters: In a real case, a new 3PL integration was added with the plan to begin pushing orders a couple of weeks later. Due to a bug, orders began pushing to the 3PL prematurely — before anyone intended them to. The Order Aging Monitor is designed to catch exactly this kind of situation and alert you immediately.
How It Works
Step 1: Access the Monitors Page
- Navigate to Tools > Admin Tools.
- Select Open Monitors.
- Click Add Monitor to create a new monitor, or click View to view or edit an existing monitor.
Step 2: Choose a Monitor Type
In the Set Up Monitor modal, you'll see four steps: Type → Basics → Alerts → Review.
On the Type step, choose from:
| Monitor Type | What It Watches |
|---|---|
| Go-Live Health Checks | General go-live health: inventory, orders, fulfillment, shipments |
| Fulfillment Integration Health | Fulfillment push health for one destination integration (volume, backlog, errors, latency, missing reference, unexpected activity) |
| Order Aging | Orders not shipped, shipped-not-invoiced, missing fulfillment orders, and stuck orders |
| EDI Health | 856/810 not sent on time and failed EDI transactions |
Select the monitor type you want to configure, then click Next.
Step 3: Configure the Basics
The Basics step changes depending on which monitor type you chose in Step 2. For an Order Aging monitor, the Basics step lets you optionally narrow the scope to one Channel ID or Warehouse group ID and choose a Check interval (5 min, 15 min, 1 hour or Daily; default Daily). Day thresholds are tuned after creating the monitor, on its detail page (open it with View), where you'll configure:
- Active toggle — Enables or pauses the monitor. Toggle off to pause without deleting.
- Checks & Thresholds — Each check can be individually toggled on or off. Expand any check to tune its threshold. Defaults apply unless changed.
- Check Interval (minutes) — How often the monitor runs. Default is 1440 (once every 24 hours / daily).
For Order Aging, the available checks are:
- Orders Not Shipped — Open orders that have not been shipped within N days of being received
- Shipped Not Invoiced — Orders that have been shipped but not fully invoiced after N days
- Missing Fulfillment Order — Orders with no fulfillment order created after the minimum age
- Stuck Unfulfilled — Orders with no shipment progress at all after N days
For EDI Health, the available checks are:
- EDI 856 Missing — Shipped EDI shipments with no successful 856 (ASN) sent after the grace period
- EDI 810 Missing — EDI invoices with no successful 810 sent after the grace period
- EDI Failed Transactions — EDI documents that failed to transmit within the check window
Tip for new integrations: When you first connect an integration, leave all thresholds at their defaults (zero orders expected). This means any order that pushes through triggers an alert immediately. Once you go live, adjust each threshold to your expected daily volume range.
Step 4: Configure Alerts
- Recipients — Enter one or more email addresses, separated by commas.
- When to notify — Choose whether you want an email after every scheduled check, or only when the monitor's status changes (e.g. OK → Warning).
Click Test to send a test alert and confirm delivery before saving.
Step 5: Save and Run On the Review step, click Create Monitor to save the monitor configuration. To trigger a check immediately, go back to the Monitors list page and click Run Now on the monitor row. The Run History section at the bottom of each monitor's configuration page will populate after the first run. Until then, it displays: "No runs yet. Click 'Run Now' from the monitors page or wait for the next scheduled run."

| Configurable thresholds | Expand any check to set N-day thresholds specific to your operations and SLAs |
| Adjustable check interval | Run as frequently or infrequently as needed; default is 1440 minutes (daily) |
| Test alerts | Send a test email before saving to verify recipients receive the report correctly |
