Overview
Luminous runs a nightly job that fills in missing product photos for any SKU that is already mapped to a product in your connected Shopify store. No manual upload or configuration is needed — as long as the SKU is linked to Shopify and does not already have a photo saved in Luminous, the job will pull one in automatically.
How it works
- Who qualifies. Only SKUs that (a) have an active Shopify product mapping and (b) currently have no photo saved in Luminous are processed. SKUs that already have a photo are skipped entirely — the job never overwrites an existing image.
- Which image is chosen. Luminous first checks whether the specific Shopify variant has its own assigned image. If it does, that image is used. If not, Luminous falls back to the Shopify product's featured (primary) image.
- When it runs. The job runs once per day in the early morning (roughly 3 AM). New or recently mapped SKUs that are missing a photo will typically have one by the following morning.
Where the photo appears
Once a photo is populated it shows up wherever Luminous displays SKU images:
- Picking list — thumbnail next to each line item
- Packing slip and purchase order HTML exports — "Product Image" / "Link to Product Photo" template fields
- SKU search / dropdown — small thumbnail in search results
- Product detail page — primary product image
What to do if a photo is still missing

Relationship to B2B Portal images
This sync populates the SKU's main product photo field. The B2B Portal Images feature is a separate, manually managed gallery used only in the customer-facing B2B portal and is not affected by this sync.
