Overview
The Close History page gives you a permanent audit trail of every period close performed in Luminous, including a frozen count of the inventory and order records that were in scope at the moment the period was closed.
Getting there
In the left sidebar, go to Insights > Accounting > Close history.
What the list shows
Each row in the table represents one close event and displays:
| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| Closed through | The date the books were closed through |
| Closed at | The date and time the close was performed |
| Closed by | The user who ran the close |
| Kind | Clean close — no unresolved blocking findings were outstanding. Acknowledged override — the operator closed with one or more blocking findings still open and provided a written reason. |
| Blockers | The number of blocking findings that were unresolved at the exact moment of the close |
| Snapshot | Recorded — counts were frozen (available for closes from this release onward). Not recorded — the close predates this feature. |
Click any row to open the detail panel on the right.
What the detail panel shows
The detail panel displays everything from the list row, plus:
- Reason — the written explanation provided when closing with outstanding blockers
- Acknowledged findings — the specific checklist finding keys the operator accepted
- Period impact at close — the frozen counts, split into two groups:
Exact counts
These figures are dated by a real, user-settable business date and are fully reliable for the close period:
- Receiving reports — counted by received date
- Shipments — counted by ship date (where a valid ship date exists)
Approximate counts
These figures are dated only by when the row was entered into the system. A backdated entry (for example, an inventory adjustment entered today for last month) may not appear here even if it falls within the closed period:
- Adjustments
- Qty log entries
- Shipments and cost layers that lacked a usable business date and fell back to row-insert time
The cost layers and shipments sections also show a breakdown of how many records used a real business date versus how many fell back to row-insert time, so you can judge the reliability of each total at a glance.
Important notes
- Closes performed before this feature was released will show "Not recorded" in the Snapshot column. The counts are stored going forward automatically — no action is needed.
- The snapshot is captured after the close completes. If the snapshot step fails for any reason, the close itself still succeeds and the snapshot column shows "Not recorded" rather than rolling back the close.
- You cannot edit or delete a close event from this page. The records are permanent.
- To perform a new close, use the Close the Books wizard (see How do I close a period using the Close the Books wizard?).
Pagination
Close events are listed newest-first. If you have more than 50 events, use the Previous and Next buttons at the bottom of the table to page through them.
