Ship date on packing slips and sales order documents

What changed

The {{shipDate}} placeholder now exposes the actual date the order shipped (distinct from {{estimatedShipDate}}, which is the expected date). This is the same ship date shown on the Sales Orders list view.

Existing templates — automatic update

If your HTML packing slip template already printed the carrier/shipping method, Luminous automatically injected a ship-date line the next time the system ran migrations. You do not need to edit your template manually. The injected snippet appears just above the shipping-method section:

{{#shipDate}}<div>Ship Date: {{shipDate.shortDate}}</div>{{/shipDate}}

The {{#shipDate}}…{{/shipDate}} block is conditional — it only renders when the order has an actual ship date, so it is invisible on unshipped orders.

Adding ship date to a new or custom template

  1. Go to Manage → Templates and open or create your packing slip template.
  2. In the Header section, add the following where you want the date to appear:
{{#shipDate}}
  <div>Ship Date: {{shipDate.shortDate}}</div>
{{/shipDate}}
  1. Click Save.

Date format options

PlaceholderExample output
{{shipDate.short}} (or {{shipDate.shortDate}})08/06/2026
{{shipDate.long}} (or {{shipDate.longDate}})August 6, 2026
{{shipDate.medium}} (or {{shipDate.mediumDate}})Aug 6, 2026

Use the conditional block {{#shipDate}}…{{/shipDate}} in all cases so the field hides gracefully when no ship date is present.

Where the date comes from

The ship date is pulled from the sales order's ship date (the date the shipment was confirmed), not from an estimated or requested date. If the order has not been shipped yet, {{shipDate}} will be empty and the block will not render.
