Reviewing and adjusting packaging before printing
Even when cartonization auto-assigns boxes, you can review, override, or fully rebuild the package layout using the Pack view.
Opening the packages editor
From Fulfillment Orders, select one order and choose Edit packages from the row's action menu (or open the label sidebar and click Edit items… in the Packages section). This opens a modal titled "Configure packages."
What you'll see
- Package list — Each box the engine assigned, with its carton template, estimated weight, and dimensions.
- Unpacked items — Items the engine could not place (empty when fully auto-packed).
- Engine suggestion — If the learned rulebook ran, a chip shows which box it recommended, its confidence level, and alternative boxes you can switch to in one click.
Adjusting packages
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Swap the box | Click a box template name and select a different carton from the dropdown, or click an alternative chip to switch in one click. |
| Move an item | Click a + [SKU] chip under Add to this box: on a package card to move a unit in from the Unpacked list; click the "−" (minus) icon next to a packed item to move it back out. |
| Add a package | Click + Box (full modal) or Add (inline editor) to open a new empty box. |
| One per box | Distributes one unit of every unpacked line into its own new package |
| Merge all | Collapses all packages into the first one. |
| Remove a package | Click the bin icon on any package to delete it and return its items to the Unpacked pool. |
| Auto-pack | Click Auto-pack to clear all current packages and let the engine re-run packaging from scratch on the order's full item list. This is more than a "fill the leftovers" action — it discards any manual adjustments you've made. |
| Reset | Click Reset to clear all auto-assigned packages and start fresh. |
Editing weight and dimensions inline
In the label sidebar (single-order flow), the Packages section shows each package's template, weight, and dims directly. You can edit weight, length, width, and height there without opening the full Pack view. Changes feed straight into the carrier rate quote.
Confirming the layout
Once all items are packed (the Unpacked section is empty), click Confirm packages. A confirmed layout is locked — the engine will not overwrite it if the FO is updated. You can still open the Pack view to make further changes, but you'll need to reset and re-confirm.
Printing packing slips
Two separate buttons print packing slips, and they aren't the same thing:
- Inside the Configure packages modal, click Package slips to generate a collated PDF with one slip per package — useful for multi-box shipments where each box needs its own contents list.
- From the Fulfillment Orders grid, the label sidebar's top section (showing how many orders are selected) has a separate Print packing slips (N) button that works across all currently selected orders at the grid level. It isn't gated on cartonization being enabled.
