Luminous builds picklists from an order’s fulfillment orders. To pick everything except a short line, take that line off the fulfillment order first, then create the picklist.

If the order already has a fulfillment order

1.Open the sales order and go to the Fulfillment Orders tab. 2. Click the ⋮ on the fulfillment order row and choose Edit Fulfillment Order. 3. Click Delete on the line that’s short, or lower its Quantity to what you can ship. 4. Click Save Fulfillment Order. 5. Create the picklist: from the same ⋮ menu choose Create Picklist, or on the Sales Order Grid select the order and choose Actions → Bulk Actions → Create Picklists. In Group By, choose Warehouse Group or Sales Order and Warehouse Group, then click Create.

If the order has no fulfillment order yet

  1. On the Fulfillment Orders tab, click Actions → Create Fulfillment Order.
  2. Uncheck the short line, or reduce its quantity, and save.
  3. Create the picklist as in step 5 above.

What happens if you just click Create Picklists

If a line on the order has no stock available, Luminous won't create the picklist for that order. The error names the order, the warehouse group it searched, and the SKU and quantity it couldn't fulfill. Luminous doesn't skip the short line and pick the rest.

On the Sales Orders grid, a picklist preview can also list "Unable to Fulfill Orders". Its Continue with Fulfillable Orders button drops whole orders that can't be fulfilled. It doesn't drop a single line within an order.

Steps for a partial pick

  1. Open the posted sales order and go to its Fulfillment Orders tab.
  2. If an auto-generated fulfillment order already exists and contains the short line, remove or re-create it first. Picklists are built from the order's fulfillment orders, so the short line has to be out of them. I could not confirm in the product how to remove a single line from an existing fulfillment order. Check with Support before you delete or replace one.
  3. Click Actions → Create Fulfillment Order. The Fulfill Orders dialog opens, with a checkbox for each line.
  4. Uncheck the line that doesn't have enough stock. Leave the other lines checked. You can also lower the quantity on a line if you only want to fulfill part of it. The quantity must be greater than 0 and no more than the remaining quantity.
  5. Fill in the fulfillment channel and any other required fields, then save.
  6. Back on the Sales Orders page, select the order and choose Create Picklists. In the Group By box, choose Warehouse Group or Sales Order and Warehouse Group, then click Create. The picklist contains only the lines on the fulfillment order.

The excluded line stays on the sales order with its quantity still unfulfilled. After stock arrives, create another fulfillment order for it and pick it separately.

Good to know

  • If a fulfillment order already covers every line, Create Fulfillment Order shows “Can not create fulfillment order with no remaining quantity to fulfill.” Edit the existing fulfillment order instead.
  • An order that already has a picklist can’t get another until the first is removed.
  • The line checkboxes only appear when you work on one order at a time. If you select several orders, you can't edit individual lines.
  • An order that already has a picklist can't get another one until the first is removed. A sales order with fulfillment orders can't be grouped with one that has none.
  • To decide where short items will come from, see the Allocation Planner article. To learn how fulfillment orders are created and pushed, see the fulfillment orders article.
