Overview
By default, a work order only affects component stock once it’s started (In Progress). You can choose which work order statuses add their component demand to each component’s planned quantity. This is useful if you plan production, and buy materials, from the Work Orders module.
This option is rolled out per account. If you don't see the setting, ask Luminous support to enable it.
Set it up
- Go to Settings → Inventory.
- Under Stock levels, in the Pending area, find Work order statuses that count toward planned inventory.
- Select any of Draft, Planned and In Progress. Completed and Cancelled can't be selected.
- Click Save Settings.
Leaving the list empty includes nothing, which is the default.
What changes
- Each work order in a selected status adds demand to the planned quantity of its BOM components.
- The demand is the remaining planned output multiplied by the BOM quantity, using any quantity override on the line.
- Anything that work order has already committed is subtracted, so it isn’t counted twice.
- Only work orders with a Production Location set are counted.
- On the work order form, the BOM Available column also subtracts demand from your other work orders at the same Production Location.
- Committed stock is still recorded only when a work order is started.
Tips
- To reserve components as soon as production is scheduled, select Planned.
- To count unscheduled demand as well, add Draft.
