Overview
A Shipping Rule can hide specific carriers from the FreightView quote list when a shipment's details match the rule. Use it when a carrier performs poorly in some regions and you don't want it offered there.
Set up a freight rule
- Go to Operations › Operations Admin › Shipping Rules and click Add rule, or edit an existing rule.
- Under WHEN, add the Ships to state values. You can use the region shortcuts (West, Islands, Military). You can also narrow by country, sales channel, packing class, PO box, TikTok orders or tags.
- Tick Freight (FreightView) quotes. This applies the rule to the freight quote list instead of parcel labels. The parcel-only options (services, transit days, ship days, lock) are hidden for freight rules.
- Under Exclude carriers, add the carrier name or its SCAC code (for example, SEFL). A quote is hidden when its SCAC equals an entry or its carrier name contains one.
- Click Add rule in the dialog, then click Save at the top right of the Shipping Rules page.
To cover several territories, create one rule per group of states.
What you'll see when quoting
- Quotes from excluded carriers are removed from the quote list for matching shipments.
- A note in the quote window shows how many quotes were hidden and by which rule.
- Hidden quotes are not deleted. Shipments that don't match the rule still show every carrier.
Good to know
- If a rule would hide every bookable quote, it is skipped once all carriers have responded. You are never left with nothing to book.
- While carriers are still returning rates, matching quotes are hidden as they arrive.
- Freight rules never affect parcel rates or labels, and parcel rules never affect freight quotes.
- Freight rules currently hide carriers only. They can't restrict the list to a chosen set of carriers.
