The Stock Snapshot Summary step of the Close the Books wizard can be narrowed to specific product categories. This lets you check finished-goods quantities without Raw Materials dominating the totals.

This filter is released behind a feature flag and is off by default. If you don't see a Categories control, ask support to enable it.

Steps

  1. Go to Insights → Accounting → Close the Books, choose your period, and click Continue to snapshot to reach the Stock Snapshot Summary step.
  2. In the Categories dropdown, choose a mode:
    • All categories: the default view.
    • Only these: shows only the categories you pick (Show only).
    • All except these: shows everything except the categories you pick (Leave out). Choose this and select Raw Materials to review finished goods.
  3. Pick one or more categories. A Filtered: ... label shows what is applied.
  4. The Starting, Received, Sold, Adjustments and Ending On Hand quantities update to the filtered subset.

Things to know

  • Quantities only. Dollar values are hidden while a filter is on, because the category breakdown is valued at average cost and the headline totals may use a different cost basis.
  • In Transit stays company-wide. It cannot be broken down by category.
  • The filter is for viewing only. Accept and close always applies to all categories.
  • Categories are matched by category, not by name. If two categories share a name, the picker adds an ID to tell them apart. Items with no category appear as No category.
