Editing line items on a partially fulfilled sales order

Yes — Luminous now allows line-item edits based on each item's actual fulfilled and shipped quantities, rather than blocking all edits the moment any fulfillment order exists.

Which orders support this?

This applies to sales orders whose source is Luminous, EDI, API, or External API. Orders pulled in from an integrated OMS channel (e.g. Shopify, ShipStation) remain locked because changes should be made at the source channel first.

What can I do on each line item?

Item stateCan I change the quantity? Can I delete the item?
Nothing fulfilled or shippedYes — any quantityYes
Partially fulfilled or shippedYes — down to the fulfilled/shipped amount (whichever is higher)No
Fully fulfilled or shippedNoNo

How to edit a partially fulfilled order

  1. Open the sales order detail page.
  2. Click Edit to open the order form.
  3. Line items load with per-row controls reflecting the rules above:
    • Rows with no fulfillment show a delete button and a free-edit quantity field.
    • Rows with partial fulfillment show a quantity field with a minimum enforced; the delete button is disabled.
    • Fully fulfilled rows are grayed out.
  4. Make your changes and click Save.

If any item you tried to remove is protected (has fulfilled or shipped quantity), Luminous saves the rest of the order and returns a warning identifying that item — the save is not blocked.

Important: changing integrated-channel orders

If the order originated from Shopify, ShipStation, or another integrated sales channel, make the correction in that platform first. Luminous will sync the updated line items on the next order pull. Editing directly in Luminous for channel orders is intentionally restricted to prevent the two systems from diverging.

What about the quantity floor?

The minimum quantity you can set on a partially fulfilled item equals max(quantity_fulfilled, quantity_shipped). You cannot save a quantity below that floor — the system will reject the update with an error message explaining the minimum allowed value.
