Deleting a draft assembly order
Assembly orders have a Delete action. It is hidden on rolled-back orders, and your account may not have it turned on. If you don't see Delete on a draft assembly order, check these:
- Look in the row menu. On the Assembly Orders lists (Open and Closed), Delete is in the row's action menu (the kebab). It is also available on assembly order cards inside a work order or production run.
- It is not on the order's own page. Open the list and use the row menu instead.
- It is hidden on rolled-back orders. A rolled-back order cannot be deleted.
- Delete is a gated feature. It only appears on accounts where it has been enabled. If it is missing on an order that is not rolled back, ask Luminous support to turn it on for your account.
Steps
- Go to the Assembly Orders list and find the order.
- Open the row menu and choose Delete.
- Luminous first checks whether the order can be deleted. If it can't, it shows the reason.
- A confirmation window appears showing the order number, status, SKU, product and quantity. For a draft order, the effect is that the order record is removed.
- If the order is linked to a work order, you will see a checkbox, Recommit raw materials to linked Work Order. It is unchecked by default. Tick it if you want the component materials re-reserved on the work order.
- Click Delete Order.
Completed orders can also be deleted. Deleting one reverses its inventory movements: finished goods are deducted, components are restored, and cost-layer adjustments are reversed. Luminous refuses if the finished goods have already been shipped on a transfer order or used as components in another assembly order.
Deleting a work order
- Use Delete Work Order in the row menu of the Work Orders list. The list only offers it on Draft work orders.
- Delete is not offered on the work order's page, or on the rows inside a production run. A run's rows only let you remove the work order from the run, which unlinks it and does not delete it.
- Luminous itself accepts deletion of draft or cancelled work orders. If a cancelled work order has no Delete option in the list, contact support to remove it.
- Deleting also releases any committed stock left on the work order.
- The confirmation reads Delete Work Order? — “Removing this work order means the linked data will no longer be accessible.” Click Yes to delete.
Deleting a production run
- A production run can only be deleted when it has no work orders linked to it. If it has any, expand the run on the Production Runs list, open each work order’s row menu, and choose Remove from Run. This only unlinks the work order; it does not delete it.
- On the Production Runs list, Delete Run is offered on Draft or Planned runs that have no work orders. On the run's own page it is offered whenever the run has no work orders.
- Confirm Delete Production Run?. This cannot be undone.
Cancelling orders and pick lists
To cancel a sales order, delete its pick list first if it is on an active one. Then, if it was pushed to ShipStation, unpush it. Then set the order status to Cancelled with Update Order Status. The full walkthrough is here: How do I cancel an order (including one already sent to ShipStation) and its pick lists in Luminous?
In short:
- On the Pick Lists list, delete the pick list that contains the order and confirm Delete picklist?. The orders go back to Not in picking.
- If the order was pushed to ShipStation, use Unpush from WMS on its Fulfillment Order.
- Use Update Order Status and set the status to Cancelled.
