Creating picklists from several sales orders

  1. Go to Operations → Sales Orders and tick the orders you want to pick.
  2. Click Actions and choose Create Picklists.
  3. In the Create Picklists by Fulfillment Orders dialog, choose a Group By option.
  4. Click Create.

When it finishes, Luminous opens the new picklist if one was created. If several were created, it opens the Picklists list. If you have turned on Keep current page after creating picklists (see below), you stay on the page you started from.

The grouping options on the Sales Orders screen

Group ByWhat you get
Warehouse GroupOne combined picklist per warehouse group. Use this to pick several orders together.
Sales Order and Warehouse GroupOne picklist per sales order for each warehouse group.

If you’re getting one picklist per order, the grouping was most likely set to Sales Order and Warehouse Group. Switch to Warehouse Group to combine orders.

As the dialog explains, if fulfillment orders exist, Luminous uses the grouping you select. Otherwise, it defaults to one picklist per sales order.

From the Fulfillment Orders grid, the options are Individual Fulfillment Order and Warehouse Group.

Grouping options on the Fulfillment Orders grid

If you select fulfillment orders instead and choose Create Picklists, the options are:

  • Individual Fulfillment Order: one picklist per fulfillment order.
  • Warehouse Group: one picklist per warehouse group.

Set your default grouping

Go to Settings → Fulfillment, and find the Picklist Creation section:

  • Default grouping for new picklists: choose Ask every time, Warehouse Group, or Sales Order and Warehouse Group. Screens that don’t offer your default still ask you to choose.
  • Keep current page after creating picklists: keeps you on the screen you started from and refreshes it, instead of opening the new picklist.

Adding more orders to an existing picklist

You can add orders to a picklist that already exists:

  1. Open the picklist.
  2. Choose Actions → Add Order. This is only available while the picklist can still be picked.
  3. Select the orders to add and click Add to Picklist. The list only offers orders that don't already have a picklist.

Things to know:

  • Fulfillment orders added to an existing picklist must belong to a warehouse group the picklist already includes. Otherwise Luminous shows an error.
  • Orders that already have a picklist can't be added to another one.
  • This does not merge two existing picklists. To combine orders that are already on separate picklists, you would need to recreate the picklists with the Warehouse Group grouping. If you do, check first that the orders are in a state where that is possible.

Common errors

Orders can fail with one of these messages: fulfillment orders already have picklists, have no items, or have no warehouse group. If only some orders fail, Luminous still creates picklists for the rest and lists the failed orders in the message.
