What Is a Channel?

In Luminous, a channel represents a connection point for orders — either where orders come from (an order source such as Shopify), where they go for fulfillment (a warehouse or 3PL), or both. Every channel also carries a Warehouse Group assignment, which tells Luminous which pool of inventory to draw from when fulfilling orders through that channel.

Channel Types

When creating a channel you must choose one of three types:

TypeWhat it does
Sales ChannelPulls orders in from an external platform (e.g. Shopify, Amazon). Does not require a Warehouse Group.
Fulfillment ChannelRoutes fulfillment orders to a warehouse or 3PL destination. Requires a Warehouse Group (unless configured as a dropship channel with untracked inventory).
End to End ChannelHandles both order intake and fulfillment in one configuration. This is the default.

  1. In the left-hand navigation, go to Manage → Channels.
  2. The channel list shows each channel's name, type, assigned Warehouse Group, remarks, whether it pulls orders, pushes orders, pushes stock, its tags, and its active status.

Creating a Channel

  1. On the Channels list page, click + Create (or navigate to the create page directly).
  2. Fill in the required fields:
    • Channel Label – A unique, human-readable name for the channel (required).
    • Description – Optional notes about the channel's purpose.
    • Channel Type – Sales Channel, Fulfillment Channel, or End to End Channel (required).
  3. Configure the relevant integration sections based on your channel type (see below).
  4. Click Save. You will be returned to the Channels list with a success confirmation.

Key configuration sections

Order Source (Pull Orders)

Toggle PULL Sales Orders on to have Luminous pull orders from an external platform. You must then select (under Pull Orders From) the connected integration account (e.g. your Shopify or TrackStar connection). Platforms include Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce, HubSpot, TrackStar, and others. Some platforms also require you to select a specific store within that account.

Warehouse Assignment

The Warehouse Group dropdown links the channel to a specific set of warehouses. Fulfillment Channels require this field unless the channel is configured as a dropship channel with inventory not tracked. Sales Channels do not require a Warehouse Group.

Note: If you change the Warehouse Group on an existing channel, Luminous will warn you that the change will also update any Fulfillment Priority List lines already associated with that channel. You must confirm before the update is saved.

Order Destination (Push Orders)

Toggle Push Orders to Integration on to send fulfillment orders to an external system (such as a 3PL or warehouse management system). Select the destination integration account and, where applicable, the destination store.

Push Stocks

In the Push Inventory Stocks and Costs section, toggle Push Stock to Integration on to have Luminous push inventory levels back to the connected platform. You can optionally specify which inventory location's stock to send and set a scheduled push (daily at set times, spread across the day, or hourly).

Additional options

  • Internal Sales Channel – Mark the channel as an internal (point-of-sale) source.
  • Customer Specific – Restricts the channel to a specific customer.
  • Auto-Create Invoice – Automatically generates an invoice when an order is received or shipped through this channel.
  • Dropship (Fulfillment Channels only) – Links the channel to a supplier for dropship purchase orders, with options to auto-create and auto-send the PO.
  • Order Filters – Restrict which incoming orders this channel accepts based on field conditions.
  • Auto Push / Wave Policy – Controls how and when fulfillment orders are automatically pushed to the destination (immediate, wave schedule, or pick-and-pack).
  • Tags – Label channels for filtering and reporting.

Editing a Channel

  1. On the Channels list, click the ⋮ (three-dot) menu on the channel row and select Edit.
  2. Make your changes and click Save.
  3. If you changed the Warehouse Group or the destination integration account, a confirmation dialog will appear before the update is applied.

Enabling or Disabling a Channel

Each channel row on the Channels list has an Active toggle. Slide it to enable or disable the channel without deleting it. A success message confirms the status change.

Deleting a Channel

  1. On the Channels list, click the ⋮ (three-dot) menu on the channel row and select Delete.
  2. Confirm the deletion in the dialog that appears.
  3. A success message confirms the channel has been removed.

Product Mapping

For channels that push stock or sync products, you can map your Luminous SKUs to the corresponding SKUs on the connected platform using the Product Mapping section, accessible from the Channels area.
