Overview

Luminous now shows a template picker when you export an Assembly Order (or Disassembly Order) to PDF and your account has more than one Assembly Order export template configured. You choose the layout before the file is generated, so the right document reaches the right recipient every time.

This picker works the same way as the template selector already available on Purchase Orders and Packing Slips.

Prerequisites

  • Your account must have two or more export templates of type Assembly Order configured in Manage → Templates.
  • The global "Ask me each time" template picker setting must be turned on (it is on by default). If it has been turned off, exports will always use your account's default template without prompting.

Export a single Assembly Order with a chosen template

  1. Go to Inventory → Assembly Orders.
  2. Locate the order you want to export (open the Open Orders or Closed Orders tab as needed).
  3. Click the Export Assembly Order icon in the row's Actions column (or use the Export button in the order detail view).
  4. A brief "Preparing export…" overlay appears while your template list loads.
  5. The template picker opens. Your account default template is pre-selected if one is configured — for most exports you can simply click Confirm.
  6. Select a different template if needed, then click Confirm.
  7. The PDF downloads automatically.

Tip: Cancelling the picker cancels the export entirely — no PDF is generated.

Bulk-export multiple Assembly Orders as a merged PDF

  1. Go to Inventory → Assembly Orders.
  2. Select the checkboxes for all orders you want to export.
  3. Click the Export/Download PDFs button at the top right.
  4. The template picker opens once. Choose a template and click Confirm.
  5. Luminous generates a PDF for each selected order using that template, then merges them into a single file that downloads automatically.

The merged filename follows the pattern Assembly_Orders_N_orders_YYYY-MM-DD.pdf.

Disassembly Orders

Disassembly Orders use the same Assembly Order template type. The picker appears under the same conditions and offers the same template list.

Managing Assembly Order export templates

To add, edit, or set a default Assembly Order template, go to Manage → Templates and filter by type Assembly Order. See How to Set Up Purchase Order (PO) Export Templates in Luminous for general guidance on building HTML export templates (the same editor and placeholder system applies).

Turning the picker on or off

The "Ask me each time" setting is shared across all document types that support template picking (Purchase Orders, Packing Slips, Assembly Orders, and others). To change it, open the template picker settings from any export template picker dialog, or contact your account administrator.
