Use the Complete purchase order when fully received action on an automation rule that runs on a receiving trigger.
Set it up
- Go to Tools → Automation → Create Rule.
- Choose a Receiving trigger.
- Add any conditions you want.
- Add the action Complete purchase order when fully received and save.
What it does
- It runs for each purchase order that has lines on the receipt.
- It completes the PO only if every line has received quantity at or above ordered quantity, and the PO has at least one line with a quantity greater than zero.
- It skips POs that are draft, cancelled, already completed or deleted.
- It skips POs that still have open quantity. These are re-checked on the next receipt.
- The PO is completed through the normal status change.
Related behavior: PO shipments When every line on a PO shipment is received in full, the shipment is closed automatically and its status is set to Arrived. This needs no rule. It never reopens if a receipt is voided afterward.
If you receive within a tolerance (for example 98 of 100 units), the PO stays open. Close it manually in that case.
